Antônio Rocha de Sousa, a 47-year-old man who recently filmed himself burning a Bible, has been found shot dead in Brazil.
His body was discovered on May 14 in Tianguá, with multiple bullet wounds, and police are treating the case as a homicide.
Just ten days earlier, Antônio had posted a video online where he set fire to a Bible, calling it a tool of manipulation and denying the existence of God
The controversial video sparked backlash, with authorities launching a theft, damage, and sacrilege investigation after suspecting the Bible was stolen.
There are conflicting reports about where his body was found—some claim it was on the street, while others say it was inside his home.
Police are currently exploring all possibilities, including a connection between the video and Antônio’s past criminal record.
Reports say he had a history of causing intentional harm and previously faced charges for grievous bodily harm.
His social media was filled with provocative statements, though his final post appeared to reference Christianity in a cryptic tone.
The case has drawn comparisons to that of Salwan Momika, an Iraqi man who also faced fatal consequences after publicly burning religious texts.
