Four pupils from Mikundi Primary School in Mchinji have been arrested for engaging in exam malpractice during the ongoing Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) examinations.
Executive Director of the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB), Dorothy Nampota, has confirmed the arrest and said the pupils were caught swapping exam papers in an attempt to assist each other during the examination.
Nampota stated that MANEB managed to detect the malpractice due to enhanced security measures implemented at all examination centres across the country.
Over 257,000 candidates are sitting for the Standard 8 examinations this year.
MANEB has since reiterated its commitment to upholding the integrity of national examinations and has warned of strict consequences for anyone found violating examination regulations.
Mikundi in Mchinji was last year 2024 ranked in the top ten of the best primary schools that did well in PSLCE
