Tragedy has struck the academic community as two promising young lives have been lost just days apart.
Caswel Mgawo, who had just graduated from the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) on Monday, died in a road accident in Mangochi only two days later. A primary school teacher by profession, Mgawo had been balancing work and studies for years. His life was tragically cut short when he was hit by a minibus while running errands. He died on the spot.
In a similar heartbreak, Emmie Mhone, a fourth-year student at the University of Malawi and former intern journalist at Dzimwe Radio, also passed away on Tuesday. Emmie, from Monkey Bay, was well-regarded by peers and mentors alike.
Both deaths have left families, friends, and the wider academic community reeling with grief.
Heartfelt condolences go out to the Mgawo and Mhone families, MUBAS, the University of Malawi, and all affected by these untimely losses.
