
Youths in Thyolo Trained To Transform Farming into Business

25 young people from Sub- Traditional Authority Maggie in Thyolo District are hoping for a better future after learning new farming and business skills to help them became self reliant through the training which was organized by Chipembere Community Development Organization (CCDO).
The training is part of CCDO’s Youth Corner program, which helps to tackle youth unemployment by teaching young people practical skills.
CCDO Facilitator Henry Mafunga, said the program was created because many youths in the district are anxious to work but they lack support and guidance.
The training includes lessons in climate smart farming, business skills, entrepreneurship, and teaching them how to consider farming as business .
One of the participants, Frank Paul from Mulanje village, said the training completely changed his imagination towards farming, he now believes that farming can help him build a better life.
Victor Mnoniwa, the organization’s Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, said CCDO is hoping to reduce poverty and social challenges among youth by preparing them to earn a living through farming.
