Police in Ntcheu District have arrested three men for possessing motor fuel without a permit.

Ntcheu Police spokesperson Jacob Khembo identified the suspects as Vincent Yohane, 29, Felix Mike, 20, and Juma Justice, 25.

Khembo said the three were arrested in separate incidents at the Tsangano checkpoint last night, where they were found with 20 drums, each containing 20 litres of motor fuel.

He explained that Vincent was transporting the drums in a Nissan Tiida, registration number MC 5147, while Felix and Juma were found with six 20-litre drums of motor fuel.

All three suspects will soon appear in court to face charges of possession of motor fuel without a permit.

Meanwhile, police in the district have issued a warning to the public that anyone found with motor fuel without a valid permit will be searched and held accountable.

Vincent hails from Madana Village and Felix from Malili Village—both under Traditional Authority Mpando—while Juma is from Ndagoma Village under Traditional Authority Kwataine, all in Ntcheu District.
