Police in Tulonkhundi, Mwanza District, have arrested two men for the illegal possession of a pangolin.

According to Mwanza Police spokesperson Hope Kasakula, the two suspects—Martin Kachepa and Reuben Chimpesa—were found keeping the pangolin in their house.

Kasakula said that concerned members of the public tipped off the police about the incident. Following an investigation, officers discovered the pangolin at Kachepa’s residence. During questioning, Kachepa disclosed the identity of his accomplice to the authorities.

Kachepa, 25, is from Jeke Village, under the Kanduku chieftaincy in Mwanza District, while Chimpesa, 30, hails from Felemu Village, which falls under the Mlauli chieftaincy in Neno District.

The pair are expected to appear in court soon.
