Two Arrested in Ntchisi Over K1.5 Million Shop Theft

Police in Ntchisi have arrested two men on suspicion of stealing items worth approximately K1.5 million from a shop in the district.

Ntchisi Police Public Relations Officer Salome Zgambo has confirmed the development and identified the two as Madalitso Chafukira (36) and Keffas Jamison (24).

According to Zgambo, the suspects allegedly broke into the shop during the early hours of June 8, 2025, and stole various goods.

“The shop owner discovered the break-in around 4 a.m. and immediately reported the matter to Ntchisi Police, who rushed to the scene and launched an investigation,” said Zgambo.

She added that well-wishers tipped off police investigators, leading them to search a bus traveling from the township area to Mponela in Dowa District. Officers recovered some of the stolen items as well as tools believed to have been used in the burglary.

Both suspects Chafukira and Jamison, hails from Mbalame Village under Traditional Authority Kayembe in Dowa District.
