Truck Driver And His Assistant Cheat Death in Mchinji Road Accident

A truck driver, Gift Kaunda, and his assistant sustained minor injuries on Wednesday after their vehicle lost control while attempting to overtake a broken-down truck near Mchinji District Hospital.

According to Mchinji Police Public Relations Officer, Limbani Mpinganjira, the accident occurred as Kaunda was driving from Mchinji Border to Lilongwe, transporting a load of maize.

“While attempting to overtake a stationary truck near the hospital, Kaunda swerved abruptly to avoid a collision, causing the vehicle to lose control,” Mpinganjira said.

Both Kaunda and his assistant were rushed to Mchinji District Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment for minor injuries.

Police have launched further investigations into the incident.

Kaunda hails from Kaulimbo Village, under Traditional Authority Mkanda in Mchinji District.
