An Air India aircraft carrying more than 200 passengers reportedly crashed shortly after takeoff from an airport in Gujarat, a state in western India, according to multiple local media sources.
The flight was en route to the United Kingdom when the tragic incident occurred. Eyewitnesses near the scene described a loud explosion followed by thick plumes of black smoke rising from the area near the airport.
International news footage showed dense smoke engulfing the sky, prompting an immediate emergency response. Details regarding casualties or survivors have not yet been confirmed.
