The Blantyre Central Second Grade Magistrate’s Court has ordered 29-year-old Tamandani Magani to pay a fine of K220,000 after being found guilty of assaulting a man at a local bar.
Presiding Magistrate Mary Gomani handed down the sentence following court proceedings led by State Prosecutor Sergeant Kisswell Chiwande, who told the court that the incident occurred on June 17, 2025, at Neighbour Bar in Blantyre.
According to Chiwande, Magani got into an argument with the victim after asking to be bought a beer. When the victim refused, Magani became furious, leading to a physical altercation that was briefly calmed by other patrons at the bar.
Surprisingly, the victim later changed his mind and decided to buy Magani the beer. However, instead of accepting the gesture, Magani allegedly used the beer bottle to hit the victim in the face, causing injuries.
Tamandani Magani, who hails from Chakana Village in Ndirande Township, under Traditional Authority Kapeni in Blantyre District, was found guilty of assault and ordered to pay the fine or face a custodial sentence.
