45-Year-Old Man in Custody for Killing Suspected Banana Thief in Thyolo

Police at Luchenza in Thyolo are keeping in custody a 45-year-old man, Moses Pituliwa, suspected of killing 23-year-old Joseph Chirambe from Salubeni Village, Traditional Authority Kapichi.

According to Luchenza Police Publicist Douglas Museu, the incident occurred on the night of 30 June 2025, when Pituliwa allegedly caught Chirambe stealing bananas and assaulted him with a panga knife.

Chirambe died while receiving treatment at Thyolo District Hospital. A postmortem revealed he died from severe blood loss due to multiple injuries.

Pituliwa comes from Chingondo Village, Traditional Authority Kapichi in Thyolo.
