Woman dies in a road accident in Rumphi

A 25 year old woman identified as Sella Chirwa on July 5, 2025, died after falling off a motor vehicle which she was travelling in as the vehicle hit multiple potholes soon after Chipokababori bridge in Rumphi district.
The motor vehicle, a 7-tonner Mercedes Benz lorry registration number MC 6349, was carrying 60 passengers (players and supporters), from Rumphi Stadium, where they participated in a football game, to Nkhatabay via Bwengu.
The deceased lost her grip and fell onto the tarmac road. Due to the impact, she sustained fatal head injuries, and died before receiving treatment at Rumphi District Hospital.
Sella Chirwa was from Kabululu village in the area of Traditional Authority Fukamalaza in Nkhatabay district.
