FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have confirmed a record-breaking deal worth K192 million with Qatari club Muaither FC for the transfer of team captain Lloyd ‘Banega’ Aaron.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who also features for the Malawi national team (the Flames), played his final match for Bullets on Sunday, leading his side to victory against Silver Strikers in the Airtel Top 8 final. The game, held at Bingu National Stadium, ended in a dramatic penalty shootout, sealing a second consecutive Airtel Top 8 trophy for Banega during his short but impactful stint at the club.

Banega joined Bullets on January 5 last year and leaves just 562 days later, having cemented his place as a fan favorite and team leader. Despite his importance to the squad, Bullets CEO Albert Chigoga emphasized the club’s policy of supporting player growth and career advancement, saying the club will not block Aaron’s move abroad.

“Even though he is a key player, our philosophy is to create opportunities for our players. If a deal is right for the club and the player, we support it,” said Chigoga.

The deal, which is now fully agreed upon, marks the highest transfer fee ever received by the club. Banega is expected to depart this week, pending finalization of travel documents.
