Man Arrested Over Murder of Girlfriend in Chiradzulu

Police in Chiradzulu have arrested Bright Kanyerere, 32, on suspicion of murdering his 31-year-old girlfriend, Maria Kandau.
According to Chiradzulu Police Spokesperson Cosmas Kagulo, the suspect is alleged to have committed the crime on the night of July 19, 2025, after accusing Kandau of stealing his money.
Reports indicate that the couple was drinking together earlier that day and later proceeded to the woman’s bedroom, located at a local drinking joint.
The following morning, Kandau was found dead in the same room.
Her body has since been taken to Chiradzulu District Hospital, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
