Joyce Banda Picks Khumbo Kachali as Running Mate

People’s Party (PP) leader Joyce Banda has announced that Khumbo Kachali, Freedom Party (FP) leader, will be her running mate in the upcoming election.
The former Malawi leader made the announcement while submitting her nomination papers to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
Banda becomes the first person to submit her papers for presidential bid and second presidential candidate to reveal her running mate.
Meanwhile, MEC Commissioner Andrew Mpesi has appealed to PP leaders and their allied parties to abide by electoral laws during the campaign period.
He further urged all parties to avoid violence and to present their positions peacefully.
