National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Plc has adopted musician Jetu’s viral hit “Pangolin” as the official theme song for the inaugural NBM Women’s Premiership.

The announcement was made by NBM’s Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager, Akossa Hiwa, during a presentation ceremony held in Blantyre, where the bank also unveiled home and away kits for FCB Nyasa Bullets Women and Kukoma Ntopwa Women. The two teams will kick off the league this Saturday at Mpira Stadium.

Hiwa explained that the song “Pangolin” aligns perfectly with the values of the women’s league, stating that the pangolin, being a protected and respected species in Malawi, symbolizes the honour and protection that should be extended to women in sport and society at large.

She added that the original track will be remastered to reflect the objectives of the women’s football league and other NBM-led women empowerment initiatives, including the bank’s sponsorship of the Malawi Women’s National Team, the Scorchers.

Reacting to the development, Jetu expressed excitement and pride over her hit song being chosen to promote the women’s game. “It means a lot that my music is being used to uplift and inspire women,” she said.

Released just three weeks ago, Pangolin has garnered over 1.2 million views on YouTube, continuing to gain momentum and solidify Jetu’s rising status in the Malawian music scene.
