Malawian artist Abiti Najere is finally winning public appreciation after releasing her latest song titled “Bwezi Ukunyoza” today 28th July, 2025.
Abiti Najere, who entered the music scene at her old age after being inspired by Jetu, has faced harsh criticism in the past. Many discouraged her from pursuing music, accusing her of producing low-quality tracks.
Over the past few months, she released at least five songs, all of which received lukewarm responses. Despite the criticism, she remained persistent, even branding herself with the signature intro: “Alore alore, akane akane” meaning “Let them accept or reject.”
But the story has taken a surprising turn. Her new track “Bwezi Ukunyoza” which addresses judgmental attitudes toward others has been widely praised for its message and improved production quality. In the song, Abiti Najere sings about people who mock others’ partners but claim theirs are perfect. She flips the narrative by asking how critics would feel if the tables were turned.
Within just three hours of release, the song had already garnered over 5,000 views on YouTube, with fans flooding the comment section, applauding her growth and urging her to keep going. Many believe “Bwezi Ukunyoza” could outperform her previous releases due to its relatable theme and catchy delivery.
It seems the once-rejected “mummy” of Malawi’s music scene is finally carving her space.
