Five Arrested in Connection With Murd3r and Robbery of Omar Mbeta in Chileka

Police in the South-West Region, Blantyre, have arrested five men suspected of murdering and robbing 50-year-old businessman, Omar Mbeta, who operated shops at Chatha in Chileka on June 13, 2025.
According to the Deputy Public Relations Officer for the region, Beatrice Mikuwa, the suspects stole an undisclosed amount of money, a Samsung A32 phone, and a mobile money transfer device belonging to the deceased.
The suspects have been identified as Blessings Chadzamakono, 27, Robert Assam, 49, Douglas Sandram, 51, Samson Kasambwe, 18, and Genesis Mastala, 36.
Mikuwa further revealed that the group is also linked to other criminal cases in different areas, including Mwanza District, where they allegedly shot and robbed another victim.
The five are expected to appear in court on August 26, 2025, to answer charges related to the murder of Mbeta and other offenses.
