The Lilongwe Magistrate’s Court has ordered police to arrest Hanna Jabes, popularly known as Tamia Ja on social media, for failing to appear in court on two separate occasions.
On 26 August 2025, the court fined Tamia Ja K50,000 after she skipped a scheduled appearance, but she neither paid the fine nor showed up for her latest hearing today.
The case, filed by the National AIDS Commission (NAC), accuses the socialite of contempt of court. According to NAC’s legal representative Bruno Matumbi, the court directed that Tamia Ja remain in police custody until the matter is concluded to ensure her presence during proceedings.
Matumbi added that NAC has twice presented witnesses in the case, only for the sessions to collapse due to Tamia Ja’s failure to attend.
Tamia Ja is accused of unlawfully disclosing private medical information of another person through her social media page, allegedly defaming the individual by publishing damaging details without consent.
