Woman Sought for Allegedly Stealing Baby from Zomba General Hospital

Police in Zomba are searching for a woman suspected of stealing a baby named Robert Alfred from Zomba General Hospital.

District police spokesperson Patricia Sipiliano said the incident occurred earlier this week. The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, reportedly visited the hospital on Sunday pretending to be pregnant.

She then befriended Yasintha Robert, the mother of the baby.

“When Robert woke up in the morning, she discovered that her baby had been stolen. She reported the matter to the police, and we are currently searching for the suspect to recover the child,” Sipiliano explained.

The police have since urged any one with information on whereabouts of the woman to help them with the search.
