Police in Kasungu District say they are searching for Lloyd Banda and others suspected of burning down houses and stealing property belonging to Levison Kadelera, whom they accused of killing Gloria Banda through witchcraft in 2014 in Chindulu Village, under Traditional Authority Chilowamatambe.

According to Deputy Police Spokesperson Miracle Hauli, on November 8 this year, some villagers claimed to have found the woman, believed to have resurrected, and took her to the village chief before proceeding with her to prayers.

Hauli explained that after the prayers, Lloyd Banda and others went to the chief’s area, where they allegedly threatened to confront Levison Kadelera, accusing him of bewitching his mother.

On November 11, the group reportedly went to Kadelera’s home, where they burned several houses and stole property, including fertilizer and livestock, among other items.

Police officers who rushed to the scene found that six houses had been looted and set on fire.
