Minister of Homeland Security, Peter Mukhito has directed the Inspector General of Police to release a report by the end of this week on the killing of Dr. Victoria Bobe in Blantyre.

Dr. Bobe, a gynaecologist at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and a lecturer at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS), was shot dead early this morning after armed assailants broke into her home.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Mukhito condemned the killing and vowed that those responsible will be found and brought to justice.

Preliminary findings indicate that the attackers cut through a section of the wall fence before entering the house where Dr. Bobe lived with her husband, Yamikani Bobe. The criminals reportedly shot her in the head and escaped with a computer and two empty bags.

Investigators are working to determine the type of firearm used and to identify the assailants. Police say investigations are ongoing.
