Golden Matonga, Chairperson of the Malawi Chapter of the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA), has been elected to the Network Committee of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).

Matonga, who is also the Managing Partner at the Platform for Investigative Journalism (PIJ), joins a distinguished global team responsible for guiding ICIJ’s network of over 280 reporters across more than 100 countries.

He said he is “truly honored and humbled,” adding that he looks forward to supporting colleagues from Africa and beyond in their collaboration with ICIJ.

Matonga is the only African representative on the global leadership body.

ICIJ Executive Director Gerard Ryle praised the newly constituted committee, noting its importance in steering major cross-border investigative projects.

The leadership team is chaired by Edouard Perrin of France.

Other members include Co-Chairs Hala Nasreddine from Lebanon and Yasuomi Sawa from Japan.
