Court Orders Castel Malawi to Pay K417.7 Million to Former Employees for Unfair Dismissal

The Industrial Relations Court in Lilongwe me has ordered Castel Malawi Limited to pay K417.7 million in compensation to 32 former employees who were unfairly dismissed.
The court ruled that the termination of the employees violated their right to fair labour practices. The compensation, which was assessed based on the workers’ years of service and lost wages, follows a March 2024 ruling that declared the dismissals unlawful.
Castel Malawi has been granted 30 days to appeal the decision, which was delivered on December 15, 2025.
