Child with Albinism Missing for Three Weeks in Mulanje

A child with albinism has been missing for three weeks in Richard Village, under Traditional Authority Mthiramanja in Mulanje District.

Senior Chief Mthiramanja confirmed the disappearance, saying the child, who normally lives in Lilongwe, had travelled to the area last month to visit relatives.

“It is true the child cannot be traced. This is the family’s ancestral home, although the parents later relocated to another area. The child has been staying with relatives here,” said the chief.

He added that upon receiving the report, the matter was immediately referred to police, but the child has not yet been found.

Mulanje Police spokesperson Jane Mandala confirmed that police have launched investigations to trace the missing child.
