High Court to Hear Chimwendo Banda Bail Application Today

The High Court in Lilongwe is today expected to hear a bail application for Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda, who is facing an attempted murder charge.
According to an inter partes summons on an application for bail pending trial currently in circulation, the hearing is scheduled to commence at 11:00 am.
One of the defence lawyers, George Jivason Kadzipatike, has confirmed the development, saying the defence has applied for Chimwendo Banda’s release on bail pending trial.
Chimwendo Banda and his co-accused, Kadula, are answering charges of attempting to murder Frank Chawanda in Dowa District.
