Police in Salima have arrested three men for allegedly attacking a traveler and stealing a motorcycle and other valuables worth K1.8 million near Mpatsanjoka Bridge.
The suspects have been identified as Mustapher Ashim, 25, Alafati Kadango, 22, and Muhammed Amin, 20, all from Kalichero Village in Traditional Authority Maganga in the district.
Salima Police Public Relations Officer, Rabecca Ndiwate, said the incident occurred on January 26, 2026, at around 20:00 hours.
She said the victim was traveling from Senga Bay when the three suspects intercepted him shortly after he crossed the Mpatsanjoka Bridge. The suspects reportedly used violence to rob him of his Litan motorcycle, a cellphone, K30,000 cash, a shirt, and a pair of slippers.
“Upon receiving the report, police instituted investigations that led to the arrest of the three suspects, who, after committing the offense, dismantled the motorcycle and were selling the parts,” said Ndiwate.
The police publicist confirmed that all the stolen items, including the dismantled motorcycle parts, have been recovered.
The suspects are expected to appear in court to answer charges of robbery with violence once all police formalities are completed.
