The Board of Directors of Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) yesterday dismissed its Director General, George Kasakula.
Kasakula confirmed the development, saying he received the dismissal letter yesterday.
He said the board summarily dismissed him on allegations that he was partisan in his role as Director General.
According to Kasakula, the decision followed his appearance before the board’s Human Resource and Administration Committee last week.
“It is true, I attended a hearing last week and after that they made the decision. I am out of MBC,” he said.
Kasakula, who was appointed Director General in 2021, signed a new contract in June 2024 that was expected to run until June 27, 2027.
He had been suspended in October last year pending investigations before the board made its final decision to terminate his contract yesterday.
