Police in Mchinji District have arrested two men, both Zambian nationals, on suspicion of being found in possession of stolen property.

Deputy police spokesperson for the district, Susen Mchekeya, identified the suspects as 38-year-old Kelvin Tembo and 22-year-old Peter Phiri.

According to Mchekeya, Tembo was arrested on the night of April 11 at Ludzi Market, while Phiri was apprehended at the Malawi–Zambia border as he allegedly attempted to sell some of the suspected stolen items.

The suspects were found in possession of various household goods, including four Panasonic television sets, two radios, and other items.

The two are expected to appear in court soon to answer charges related to the possession of suspected stolen property.

Tembo hails from Mphamba Village in Lundazi District, while Phiri comes from Saidi Village under Traditional Authority Mpezeni in Chipata District, Zambia.
