15-Year-Old Boy Dies While Trying to Save Brother in Ntchisi Market Fight

A 15-year-old boy, Limbikani Manda, has died after sustaining severe head injuries while attempting to rescue his brother during a violent altercation at a market in Ntchisi.

According to Ntchisi Police spokesperson Salomy Zgambo, the incident occurred on Sunday when the deceased intervened in a fight involving his brother, Billy Manda, who was reportedly being assaulted and bitten on the ear and neck by a man identified as Limbikani Sabwe.

Police say the young boy picked up a stick in an effort to defend his brother. However, during the struggle, the stick was allegedly used against him, striking him at the back of the head and leaving him unconscious.

He was rushed to Ntchisi District Hospital, where he later died while receiving treatment.

A postmortem conducted at the hospital confirmed that Limbikani Manda died due to severe head injuries.

Police say investigations into the incident are ongoing.
