Police in Thyolo are investigating the suspected murder of 19-year-old motorcyclist Amon Mukhula, whose body was found near Goliati Trading Centre with head injuries.

The victim’s red 49-10 Lifan motorcycle is missing, raising suspicions that robbery may have been a motive.

Mukhula, a resident of Kamoto Village, reportedly went missing on the evening of April 27 after picking up an unidentified passenger from a kabaza rank.

He had been instructed to travel towards the Malawi University of Science and Technology area but never returned home.

His body was discovered the following morning between April 27 and 28, prompting a police investigation.

Deputy police public relations officer Blessing Rabson said authorities are appealing to the public for information.

“We are appealing to the public to provide any information that can help us track down the perpetrators and bring them to book,” said Rabson.

Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and recover the stolen motorcycle.
