Man Rapes Mentally ill Woman, Police Launch Manhunt

Police in Nkhata Bay have launched a manhunt for Harrison Kamanga, for allegedly raping a woman living with a mental illness,at Usisya in the district.
Nkhata Bay Police Station spokesperson Enala Kalua, said the incident occurred on May 4 at Chikuwangโoma Village. On that day, the victim had gone to sell bananas at a local trading centre, where she met the suspect. Kamanga allegedly persuaded her to accompany him to his house under the pretext of buying the bananas.
Kalua said the victim followed him, and upon arrival, Kamanga reportedly grabbed her, tore her clothes, and raped her three times.
A medical examination conducted at Usisya Health Centre confirmed that sexual intercourse had taken place.
Police have since intensified a manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large, and are appealing to members of the public to provide any information that may lead to his arrest.
