53-year-old Woman Arrested for Sleeping with 16-year-old Boy

Police in Mponela have arrested a 53-year-old woman, Aliste Adson, for allegedly having sexual relations with a 16-year-old boy.
Mponela Police Station Public Relations Officer, Macpatson Msadala, confirmed the development, stating that the incident took place on May 11, 2026.
According to Msadala, police launched an immediate investigation after receiving information regarding the matter, which led to the swift apprehension of the suspect.
Adson is currently being held in custody at Mponela Police Station, awaiting a court appearance where she is expected to be formally charged.
Msadala reminded the public that Malawian law strictly prohibits any adult from engaging in sexual acts with a minor under the age of 18.
“Such actions are heavily punishable under the law. This is a serious crime that severely compromises the future of the child,” Msadala stated.
Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities have urged parents, guardians, and the general public in the area of Mponela to tightly monitor their children.
The police have also advised community members to remain vigilant and promptly report any similar violations to the nearest police formation to ensure child protection.
