Brazilian midfielder Casemiro is set to leave Manchester United as a free agent at the end of the season following the expiry of his contract.

The departure brings an end to Casemiro’s four-year stay at Old Trafford, where he made more than 80 appearances and helped the club win the 2023 EFL Cup and the 2024 FA Cup.

In an emotional farewell message shared on Facebook, the former Real Madrid star thanked the club, the city of Manchester and supporters for the love shown to him and his family.

“There are places we pass through in life… and there are places that become part of who we are. Manchester will forever be my home,” wrote Casemiro.

He added: “To the city, the club, and every supporter, my sincerest thank you. These past four years have been unforgettable, filled with moments my family and I will carry with us for the rest of our lives.”

The midfielder also thanked fans for making him feel at home from his first day at the club.

Casemiro joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in 2022 and quickly became one of the team’s key senior players during his spell in England.
