The organising committee for Arsenal supporters’ English Premier League victory celebrations in Lilongwe has announced the cancellation of the planned parade that was scheduled for May 30.

According to a statement signed by Mike Bango on behalf of Arsenal Fans Malawi, the decision follows discussions with the Lilongwe City Council and police.

The statement says police indicated they would not be able to provide security for the event as they are currently preparing for the upcoming Southern Africa Regional Police Chiefs Co-operation Organisation Meeting scheduled to take place from June 9 to 12.

Meanwhile, in Blantyre, the Blantyre City Council has approved a peaceful Arsenal victory parade organised by the Arsenal Supporters Club.

The celebrations are expected to take place on May 30, with the parade set to move from Kamuzu Upper Stadium to Blantyre Old Town Hall under police-supported security arrangements as fans celebrate Arsenal’s first English Premier League title in 22 years.
