Maranatha International Academy Managing Director who is also Independent Schools Association of Malawi (ISAMA) President Dr. Ernest Kaonga has come out of his cocoon quash rumours hovering on the social media claiming that teachers at the institution are receiving meager salaries.
Speaking during the award ceremony of the boys students who have done well during mock-exams in Blantyre, Kaonga said haters are behind the false story.
“I can say it without fear that Maranatha Academy teachers are receiving better salaries than lecturers from MUBAS, University of Malawi (UNIMA), LUANAR and MUST.
“It is also not correct that at Maranatha we don’t pay teachers in good time. All Maranatha teachers are paid in time and thus why were are producing results. At Maranatha we don’t entertain laziness,” said Kaonga.
Turning to the learners, Kaonga promised to award the top performer in this year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination with MK5 million.
During the ceremony two boys namely; Moscal Msukwa and Ishumael Chiteze, each went away with MK500, 000 for emerging top performers during mock-examinations.
Yesterday, Kaonga was at Maranatha Girls Academy where he splashed Mk2 million to Nellie Ntiza for emerging a top performer while Joyce Nadia Ndhlovu went away with Mk500, 000.
Kaonga also awarded the teachers with a 20 percent salary increment for their tireless effort.
