Political Activist Fredrick Billy Malata Arrested in Lilongwe

Information reaching this publication indicates that political activist Fredrick Billy Malata has been arrested by police in Lilongwe.
National Police spokesperson Lael Chimtembo confirmed the arrest, saying Malata is currently being held at Lingadzi Police Station. However, Chimtembo said he could not immediately provide details regarding the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
Meanwhile, sources close to Malata have alleged that the arrest is linked to a cyber-related offence involving some senior government officials.
Police are yet to officially disclose the charges or provide further information as investigations continue.
