Kasungu Nurse Found Dead After Allegedly Drinking Alcohol On Empty Stomach

A 40-year-old nurse at Kasungu District Hospital, Hope Ziba, has died after allegedly consuming alcohol without eating, police have confirmed.
According to Kasungu Police deputy spokesperson, Miracle Hauli, Ziba, who was known to frequently consume locally distilled alcohol commonly known as kachasu, left for a drinking session on Saturday, June 20, but never returned home.
His body was discovered on Sunday behind the fence of Chankhanga Secondary School.
Police later transported the body to Kasungu District Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Hauli said medical findings indicated that Ziba died after consuming alcohol on an empty stomach.
The deceased hailed from Sangazinji Village under Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba.
Police have since urged the public to exercise caution when consuming alcohol and to prioritize their health and safety.
