Mary Chilima Set to Testify in Chikangawa Plane Crash Investigation

The widow of former Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima, Mary Nkhamanyachi Chilima, is expected to appear before the Parliamentary Ad-Hoc Committee investigating the June 10, 2024 Chikangawa plane crash as public hearings resume today.

Mary Chilima is scheduled to testify during the afternoon session of the inquiry, alongside Sarah Lapukeni, widow of the late Abdul Lapukeni, and Taona P.C. Aidin, widow of aircraft engineer Major Wales Aidin.

The committee is also expected to hear evidence from former Director General of the National Intelligence Service, Dr. Dokani Ngwira.

The public hearings are part of Parliament’s ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Chikangawa plane crash that claimed the lives of former Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima and eight others on June 10, 2024.

The committee is continuing to gather evidence from key witnesses as it seeks to establish the events leading to the fatal crash and make recommendations based on its findings.
