Yamikani Nicholas Kachingwe, who made headlines last year following the breakdown of his marriage and was later arrested over allegations of cyber harassment against his ex-wife, Mai Achisomo, has publicly appealed for forgiveness and asked his family to return home.

Kachingwe was arrested after Mai Achisomo filed a complaint accusing him of publishing offensive social media posts about her. He was subsequently held at Area 3 Police Station in Lilongwe as police investigated the cyber harassment allegations.

In a lengthy Facebook post shared on Monday, Kachingwe admitted that he had made serious mistakes and expressed deep regret over the comments he previously made about his ex-wife.

“I need my wife and kids back home,” he wrote.

He explained that he chose to make his apology on social media because it was the same platform he had used to damage his marriage.

“It is the same platform that I used to dig my own grave emotionally, physically, psychologically and romantically. I allowed myself to destroy one good thing I had in my entire life.”

Kachingwe admitted that he acted without confirming the information he had received and acknowledged that his actions had caused significant harm.

“I overreacted. I acted out of character. I wrote so many disrespectful words about the queen of my heart without verifying if they were true. In short, I was misled. I messed up.”

He described Mai Achisomo as “a rare gem,” thanking her for being the mother of their children, his best friend and the love of his life.

He went on to ask for her forgiveness, saying:

“Find it in your heart to truly forgive me. Let’s start all over again. I want you and the kids to come back home. My life is empty without you.”

Kachingwe also appealed to the public to help convey his apology.

“Brothers and sisters, please help me apologize to my wife and kids. Those who want to laugh can laugh, and those who want to criticize can criticize, but my heart loves Mai Achisomo, and I can’t live without her.”

His public apology has attracted mixed reactions on social media, with some users encouraging reconciliation while others believe rebuilding trust after such a public fallout will take time.

It is not yet known whether Mai Achisomo has responded to his appeal.
