Police in Ntcheu have arrested a secondary school teacher, Lucious Fatsani, on suspicion of leaking confidential Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) examination material.
Ntcheu Police spokesperson Inspector Jacob Khembo confirmed the arrest, saying it follows a complaint lodged by MANEB.
According to Khembo, Fatsani, a teacher at Lake View Secondary School, is suspected of sending confidential information relating to the 2026 MANEB Biology Paper Two examination to his girlfriend, who lives in Liwonde, before the exam was administered on 13 July 2026.
Police say MANEB officials became aware of the alleged leak after the examination material surfaced on social media. The matter was subsequently reported to Ntcheu Police, prompting an investigation that led to Fatsani’s arrest.
As part of the investigation, police have confiscated a Motorola mobile phone believed to have been used in the alleged offence.
Investigations are continuing, and the suspect is expected to appear before court to answer charges related to the alleged examination leak.
