Dad Shoots His 14-year-old Gay Son Dead: ‘He Would Rather Have A Dead Son Than A Gay Son’

Police in US have arrested a 53-year-old father for shooting his 14-year-old son for being a gay.

The father, Wendell Melton had so much hatred for his own son, Giovanni Melton because he was gay, reported the victim`s foster mother Sonja Jones.

“I’m sure that inside of his mind, he would rather have a dead son than a gay son. Friends and family of the teen remembered an energetic teenager who brought happiness to those he came across,” said Sonja Jones.

A classmate of the teen, Bailey Schultz said, “It’s just sad. He was young and he had a lot to live for.”

Family members say he was shot in the apartment where the 14-year-old stayed by himself.

Jones said: “Giovanni was abused physically and mentally and spiritually for many, many years.” She added that she had spoken to a family member who confirmed that an argument had ensued over Giovanni’s sexual orientation.

Jones says the argument led to the incident which eventually saw the teenager shot by his father.

Jones says he threatened his son before Thursday. “I’m hearing his dad had caught him with his boyfriend before and pulled out a gun on him,” said Jones.

“I hope they throw the book at him. I hope he never sees the light of day,” added Jones.
“I hope every day when he looks in the mirror, he sees his son’s face.”
