Wife Denies Husband Sex for 12 Months over his Failure to Attend In-law’s Funeral

A 53-year-old man of George township in neighboring Zambia narrated to the a local court how he was denied conjugal rights for over one year for failure to attend his father-in-law’s funeral.

When he testified before Magistrate Gastone Kalala, Fedson Banda told the court that his wife, Hellen Ngoma, 45, denied him conjugal rights to punish him because he did not attend her father’s funeral.

This is in a case in which Banda was sued by Ngoma for divorce.

It was reported that the couple got married in 1987 and has six children together.

Banda told the court that due to his wife’s stance, he went to look for a girlfriend to sleep with because one year was a long time without having conjugal rights.

“I also have emotions and my blood is still running. I was forced to look for a girlfriend to sleep with,” he said.

Banda told the court that it was better for him to look for a girlfriend because his wife stopped doing her duty as a wife.

Earlier, Ngoma told the court that she denied her husband conjugal rights because she was upset with him for failing to attend her father’s funeral.

She said the failure by Banda to attend her father’s funeral was an indication that he was not concerned.

“My husband told me that he did not have money to accompany me to my father’s funeral, but he gave his mother money during the same period when she visited our home,” Ngoma said.

She also told the court that she has never enjoyed her marriage as her husband occasionally chases her from home.

In her submissions, Ngoma told the court that it was better for the pair to divorce and live apart. The court adjourned the case.
