A man is in police cell for allegedly likened the picture of First Lady Gertrude Mutharika to a cartoon.
Police in Blantyre confirmed of the arrest in an interview with capital FM radio and identified the suspect as Tumpale Mwakibinga, former student of Chancellor College (CHANCO), a constituent college of the University of Malawi (UNIMA).
According to police, Mwakibinga was arrested on Tuesday in Ndirande Township in Blantyre.
Mwakibinga allegedly posted the photos on social media platforms.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that he has been charged with an offense of insulting the modesty of a woman.
