HRDC Calls on Police to Act Professionally during Vigils

By: Flora Mitumba

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) under the banner Human rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has appealed to the police to act efficiently and professionally on crowd control during the vigils HRDC is planning to hold.

The Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has organized the vigils on the 4th and 5th July after nationwide demonstrations held last week.

The protests are aimed to continue piling pressure on the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Jane Ansah to resign for allegedly failing to manage credible elections.

Ansah is accused of favoring President Peter Mutharika of the DPP to win the May 21 elections.
