Blantyre City Council refuses HRDC permission to hold anti-Ansah demonstrations

The Blantyre City Council has refused to grant permission to Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) to hold peaceful protest to force Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah to immediately resign for failing to manage the May 21 tripartite election.

This has been disclosed in a letter addressed to HRDC signed by BCC Public Relations Officer Anthony Kasunda seen by faceofmalawi reporter.

According to Kasunda, organizers of the previous protesters failed to pay MK9.5 million properties damaged then.

Kasunda has also said the Council is today holding Mayoral polls at Blantyre City Council chambers.

Meanwhile in Lilongwe protesters has started marching and a lot of people are taking in the peaceful anti-Ansah demonstrations
