Woman Arrested for Defiling a Boy in Dedza

A 38-year-old woman has been arrested in Dedza for allegedly defiling a Standard 5 learner.

Dedza police deputy PRO, Cassim Manda identified the suspect as Annes Banda who is now being accused of defiling the boy who is under the age of 14 between last year December and January this year.

According to the PRO, in December, the victim woke up to a persistent knock by some unknown person and he opened the door.

“Banda, a tenant within the compound, is said to have entered the house and forcibly had sexual intercourse with the victim. This became a habit and the alleged sex predator disclosed her sexual escapades to her friend,” said the PRO.

The friend, however, alerted the landlady who in turn reported to Dedza Border Police Unit, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Banda has since been charged with offence of indecent assault of boys under fourteen years contrary to Section 155 of Penal code.

She comes from Kampanikiza Village in the area of Traditional Authority Masasa in Ntcheu District.
