PAC Advises APM, SKC to Sink Differences to Run State Affairs Together

Public Affairs Committee (PAC) has asked President Peter Mutharika and his Vice Saulos Chilima to put aside their differences in a journey to skillfully run state affairs.

The two’s relationship soured prior to the May 2019 polls and has remained as such until a recent court order for Chilima to revert to the post.

Speaking when addressing the media on Wednesday, Chilima whose United Transformation Movement (UTM) was one of the petitioners in the presidential election case said he had not yet talked to Mutharika, something that exposes the bad blood between them.

However, the two need to leave the past behind them to fulfill their duties, PAC has advised.

PAC Executive Director Robert Phiri urged Mutharika and Chilima to swallow their pride if the country is to move forward post the election case.

Phiri added by pleading with members of parliament to nod to the court’s 50+1 electoral threshold recommendation arguing this is the only way the country can achieve free and fair elections.
