Following Blantyre City Council (BCC) ban of social gatherings and street vending, the city’s streets have been deserted as law enforcers have been deployed everywhere.
On Monday, BCC issued the ban amid coronavirus fears a pandemic which has caused panic across the global.
The City Council`s ban is on activities that engage mass gatherings including; street vending, bridal showers, night clubs, sporting activities, wedding ceremonies, engagement ceremonies and other social gatherings.
Wednesday morning all street vending areas within Blantyre City were deserted with tight security around.
Up o date Malawi has not registered any case of coronavirus but preventive measures are being followed.
