Zomba Central Hospital health workers down tools

Health workers at Zomba Central Hospital are staging a sit in to force authorities to give them their salary arrears and allowances for the past months.

The industrial action has paralysed operations in all the departments at the hospital.

The staff claim that they met ZCH Director, Dr Martias Joshua, on March 17, this year to try and resolve the matter.

However, their meeting did not yield much as they never got their dues.

In a related development, health workers at Area 18 Health Centre in Lilongwe are staging a sit-in to force management to provide them with protective gear in the wake of the coronavirus.

They say they can no longer take the risk of treating everyone coming to the hospital as usual in the absence of protective wear such as medical face masks.
